A big part of what we want to do at Unsung Stories is find new authors and give their unique visions a home. This is why we are publishing short stories on our site.

Make us laugh, scare us, get our adrenaline pumping, make us fall in love all over again, remind us why you’re not meant to push that button, sing a song of cilia, a pocket full of lightspeed. Be original. Show the world the limits of genre fiction don’t exist. We won’t shy away from anything but always remember there’s a difference between shocking and gratuitous.

If you’re based in or around London you may also be interested in our free live fiction events over at Unsung Live. We are always interested in hearing from people interested in reading.

Submission guidelines

We want stories up to 3000 words long which must be in some way speculative. That stretches from super-AI space opera, to visceral horror, swords and sorcery to things that are… odd…

We don’t accept simultaneous or multiple submissions, we pay £25 per story for first publication rights, exclusive for three months and we respond within 60 days.

Ultimately, the Golden Rule applies: Read the instructions first. Our full guidelines can be found on our website here – www.unsungstories.co.uk/short-fiction
