“… is a quarterly arts journal published in print and online. The current print issue is available to buy in bookshops and via the website, or by subscription. The website is updated with new, usually web-only content in the first week of each month. The journal was conceived as an arts and literary journal specialising in artistically or educationally meritorious works of new or emerging artists and writers. Its aim is the promotion of the arts and literature and of advancing education in arts and literature. It takes its name and a degree of inspiration from La Revue Blanche, a Parisian magazine which ran from 1889 to 1903. The White Review is a registered charity (Charity Number: 1148690). Print Submissions

The White Review’s print issue is quarterly. All submissions must be in English and previously unpublished. Translations are acceptable and should be accompanied by a copy of the original text. Simultaneous submissions are also acceptable as long as we are notified immediately if the manuscript is accepted for publication elsewhere. Print submissions, besides poetry, should be a minimum 1,500 words in length. All print submissions should be sent to editors[at]thewhitereview.org.

We are open to publishing work unconstrained by form, subject or genre with the proviso that it be seriously minded and accessible to a non-specialised readership. We are an arts, and literature magazine but are interested in all the various fields of human endeavour: law, finance, architecture, music, science, sociology etc. Academic submissions are not encouraged. We do our best to reply to all submissions, but are not always able to, as our resources are limited. Please note that we are currently unable to pay writers or artists for their work but hope that the context in which their work is reproduced does justice to it.

Online Submissions

The White Review’s website will publish shorter pieces of cultural analysis and opinion but no reviews per se. Pieces should be 500-3,000 words. Artists and film-makers are welcome to submit their work for consideration. We will also be publishing new fiction and poetry once each month. Writers wishing to submit fiction and poetry should make it clear whether they wish to be considered for print or online, or both. All web submissions should be sent by email to editors [at] thewhitereview.org. ”
