This is a new modern ‘Penny Dreadful’ and a dip into the darker things that lurk behind us. And a place where we can meet and share those ghouls alike, after all, it’s no fun being frightened, hiding under the bed, unless, of course, you are the one doing the haunting…
A magazine of ghosts, the macabre and the oh-so peculiar. We are looking for literary fiction, illustration and animation that chills, shivers, surprises and horrifies.
We like: M.R. James, Arthur Machen, Charles Dickens, Henry James, Susan Hill, Walter de la Mare, H.P. Lovecraft, Jules Barbey d’Aurevilly, Edgar Allen Poe, Wilkie Collins, Jeannette Winterson, Sarah Waters, E. Nesbit and Helen Dunmore.
We don’t like: Twilight or any associated texts e.g: Dark Romance, and terrible clichés of any of the above! No gore please, we favour the psychological rattling of our brains…
Please submit, ghost stories (no longer than 3,500 words – no minimum), creepy illustrations and animations. Be as creative and ghoulish as you like but please adhere to the above stipulation of what we like. We also accept reviews for the website on absolutely anything as long as its strange, macabre or ghostly of topic…
