The Speakeasy, Bath’s newest literary event, is calling on local writers for submissions to its next night, at Independent Spirit on 9th February.
The event is looking for short stories and flash fiction on any topics at all. Writers must also be prepared to read their work aloud and answer questions from the inquisitive audience.
The Speakeasy was launched by three local writers for whom being read to of an evening has never lost its appeal, particularly in the company of a drink.
Katherine Doggrell, one of the event’s organisers, said: “The Speakeasy is a great chance to hear what local writers are conjuring, adding to Bath’s literary heritage and building on the tradition of fireside storytelling.
“We’re lucky to have Independent Spirit as hosts. Great venue, great booze, great people. The combination of stories and alcohol has lead to some great debates about everything from time travel to what poisons work best on your enemies.”
