Short Fiction Prize 2017 Jan 3
Short FICTION is one of the UK’s best regarded literary magazines. Its ten highly acclaimed annual print issues were produced by Antony Caleshu and Tom Vowler from 2007-2017. These beautifully illustrated journals feature stories by Kevin Barry, Helen Oyeyemi, Alison McLeod, Marina Warner, Kit de Waal, Colin Barrett, Ríona Judge McCormack, Inderjeet Mani, and many more.
We now live online, publishing one Featured Story per month, maintaining the magazine’s commitment to the very highest standards in short fiction.
Some of our authors are long celebrated, others we’ll take credit for as our discovery. With this in mind, we also seek to publish one story per quarter in our “Introducing” section, a showcase for excellent writers who are previously unpublished.
We have always been “the visual literary journal”, interested in a dialogue between visual and written art, so we work with artists to provide bespoke front-illustration for each published piece.
Submissions accepted 31 March-31 December. Short story competition opens 1 January each year. £500 first prize.
