“Oval Short Fiction was launched in 2013 to fill a perceived gap in UK literature publishing. The strengths of the magazine are based on its two core concepts:
1 – Oval Short Fiction focuses solely on the publication of short stories
2 – Oval Short Fiction selects all of its stories from an open submissions process
The above two key concepts ensure that Oval Short Fiction publishes the best stories available to it in English, regardless of publishing history.
We are committed to publishing the very best short stories, regardless of publishing history. To submit, please follow these simple guidelines:
– Please email stories as a Word Document to submissions@ovalshortfiction.org.uk
– Please only submit original fiction that hasn’t been published anywhere else
– Please include the word ‘Submission’ in your subject box along with the title of your story. This is very important, because the submission system uses the subject header to filter your submission
We don’t have any other diehard restrictions on word limits, formatting or genre; we just want to receive the best short story you have. We would prefer one excellent story, rather than multiple stories, and it’s fine to submit stories you’ve submitted elsewhere – please just let us know the moment they are accepted by another publication. We will aim to get back to you within three months, but because of the volume of submissions we can’t always give individual feedback.”
