Firewords Quarterly is a new, independent magazine packed full of powerful fiction and poetry from the best emerging writers – all enhanced by bold design.

Firewords was set up by a small group of creatives, frustrated by writing magazines that concentrated on substance over style, or vice versa. Firewords Quarterly aims to have an abundance of both; powerful writing enhanced by bold design. We work with the best artists, illustrators, photographers, hand-letterers and designers to bring each piece of writing we publish to life. A flip through Firewords makes for a unique literary experience that we hope you’ll love.

Submissions open four times a year for short stories, poetry and flash fiction. Head to our submission guidelines to find out when our reading periods are and to send us your work.

Issue One was released in Spring 2014 and is available to buy from our website as both a print and digital version – we’d love to hear what you think of it!
