“Here at Dark Tales we publish many types of story, provided that the fundamentals are adhered to – grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. If a piece is not professionally presented it will have to be exceptionally good to be considered for publication. Stories should be no longer than 5000 words.
We usually accept horror, speculative fiction and dark fantasy, and anything that falls into the gaps between these genres. Psychological rather than gory horror is preferred, and speculative fiction should enliven the imagination rather than drag the plot down with technical detail. Stories about vampires, werewolves or dragons are fine as long as there is an original spin.
Dark Tales is printed as an A5-sized high quality paperback anthology, 64 pages, and is professionally illustrated throughout. We normally publish two to three books per year.
