Banshee is a new print journal of exciting, accessible, contemporary writing from Ireland and around the world. We’re interested in a variety of formats: short stories, flash fiction, poems and essays. We publish twice a year, in spring and autumn. It is edited by three writers under 30: Laura Jane Cassidy, Claire Hennessy, and Eimear Ryan. Find us on twitter @bansheelit.
Issue #1 was published in autumn 2015 and includes work from Jessica Traynor, Mary O’Donoghue, Sinéad Gleeson, Deirdre Sullivan, Eleanor Hooker, Kelly Creighton, James O’Sullivan, Stephanie Conn, Victoria Kennefick, Jennifer Matthews, Michael Naghten Shanks, and more.
Submissions guidelines can be found at our website. We’re happy to look at up to four flash fiction pieces or two short stories (up to 5,000 words) or two essays (up to 5,000 words) or eight poems. Contributors will receive a copy of the journal as well as a small fee.
Subscriptions are available from the website. Banshee is also available to purchase from a number of Irish bookshops, including Hodges Figgis (Dublin), Dubray Grafton St (Dublin), Liberties Upstairs (Dublin), Blackbird Books (Navan) and Waterstones (Cork).
