Let us creep a little closer to Hallowe’en courtesy of Words That Go Bump in the Night – a spooky live lit event at the Warwick Arms Hotel, Jury Street, Warwick, on Thursday 10th of October. Be part of our invited audience and enjoy some exceptional 5 minute stories, poems and plays all with a ghostly, other-wordly theme. Run by author Jenny Heap, her Words Of events have been playing both Spring and Autumn seasons to ever growing audiences and participants. If you’ve never attended a Words Of live lit event before come along to Words That Go Bump In The Night on the 10th of October to hear some great writing from local authors. 7.30pm and £3 on the door. Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy this live lit event showcasing local writers, hosted by Jenefer Heap, author of ‘The Woman Who Never Did’ and ‘Women in Shorts’. Upstairs at Merchants offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where you can hear short stories, poems and other creative writing inspired by fairy tales, nursery rhymes or traditional stories and legends. And as always, the theme will be open to a wide interpretation!
Whether you’re seeking poems about damsels & dragons, stories of Wind in the Willows in outer space, or simply a modern twist on a much-loved fireside tale, we’re confident of a fascinating evening Once Upon a Word.

Live Lit Leamington Returns!
The Anthology of Authors returns! Following our postponed event (March 1st) at The Stagey Fox Leamington, we are pleased to announce – YAY! – (that’s us being pleased) that we will be back to entertain you with shorts, poems, flashes, flishes and most likely flushes on THURSDAY 22nd MARCH at The Stagey Fox, Regent Street Leamington Spa. Free to enter, free to listen, free to applaud and do feel free to flatter. First sentence 7.15pm, closing paragraph 9pm. Come one, come all!
New Writing Competition for Warwickshire
The hour-long Stratford Words radio programme has announced a free-to-enter SHORT STORY COMPETITION for residents of Warwickshire and Coventry. The title of the comp is A Certain Age, but it’s up to you what that age is and how you interpret it. Closing date is Sunday 20th May, max 3000 words, free to enter, fifty quid prize, (FIFTY QUID!!), twenty and ten pound book tokens for the runner-ups, publication in The Love Hope & Peace Journal – and – you get to read your story live on air on July 1st, in lovely Stratford upon Avon, during the River Festival. Live Lit in Leamington Not So Live This Thursday!
Due to this week’s rubbish forecast of snow and ice, our live-lit event at The Stagey Fox, Regent Street has been postponed. Our anthology of authors will re-group on Thursday April 19th at 7.15pm instead.
