Open Pen is holding its summer party in London on August 12th. Breve New Stories’ Issue 2 is out now, and the Nottingham Review is now available in print. Fictive Dream is calling for submissions for its September Slam, and rhaw magazine is also open to submissions. The A3 Review reveals its new contest themes.

Crossways is calling for submissions for issue 3 and Tales from the Forest has a call for submissions on the theme of “Limits”.

 

Competitions

Reflex Fiction, the quarterly flash fiction competition, introduces its new flash fiction forum – and is offering ten free contest entries for the Autumn competition, closing Aug 28th. The Casket of Fictional Delights has announced its flash fiction competition longlist.

The John O’Connor Writing School competition is open for stories from 1800-2000 words, deadline Aug 31st. The Aleph Writing Prize is accepting submissions of stories up to 10,000 words, deadline Sept 1st.

The Unthank School is offering an 8-week online short story masterclasswith Tom Vowler, starting in September.

 

Live Lit & Short Story Festivals

Story Friday is calling for submissions on the theme of “tomorrow” for its September event in Bath.
