Competitions
The Grist competition is open for submissions of stories of protest,deadline July 15th. Reflex Fiction has announced its 2017 competition winners – and May 31st is the deadline for its Summer 2018 Flash Fiction competition for stories of180-360 words.
A new and free-to-enter short story competition for residents of Warwickshire closes on May 20th. May 31st is also the deadline for the Casket of Fictional Delights flash fiction competition, judged by David Gaffney, for stories 300 words or less. The VS Pritchett Short Story Prize is open until June 29th.
Lit Mags
Infinity Words, Bunbury’s Issue 19, is here. Fictive Dream is calling for submissions, as is Rhaw magazine. The A3 Review is looking for stories for its Circles issue, and The Shadow Booth is crowdfunding for Issue 2.
Workshops
Haringey Lit Live has a wealth of masterclasses and short writing courses come up from now until June in London. ‘Inside Fictional Minds: Psychology for Writers’ workshop is being held in Chester June 30-July 1st.
National Flash Fiction Day & Festivals
Write for a flash walk – send in your flash stories to be included in a FlashWalk in Bristol on June 16th. Booking is now open for the 2018 Flash Fiction Festival, being held in Bristol in July.
