The A3 Review is all about Silver, Gold and Some Hard Cash with their silver-themed contest and new submission themes. Fictive Dream wants your stories, and Dopplegänger has blogged with a call for submissions. Bunbury magazine now comes to you in the flesh, in physical form.

Tales from the Forest has several upcoming themed deadlines. Palm-Sized Press is now open for flash fiction submissions, and Fairlight Books has launched a new platform for literary fiction. Shooter magazine has opened submissions for its next issue, ‘New Life’.

Normal Deviation is seeking short stories based on one weird pic, deadline Aug 31.

 

Competitions

The Walter Swan Short Story Prize is now open to submissions, deadline 16 October, and the Ruth Rendell short story competition is open until December 22. The Casket of Fictional Delights has unveiled its flash fiction competition longlist. Reflex Fiction brings us Autumn news about its flash fiction contests.

Workshops & Live Events

Speed book-clubbing with four shorts translated from Chinese and a discussion with translators is being held in London on September 5th. There are two free writing workshops in Devon on medieval murder and 17th century romance on Sept 14th  – and a free Writing & Walking “walkshop” in Bristol on 15th September.
