January Round-Up II

Lit Mags

We’re delighted to welcome two new lit mags to our list, one online and one print: Tales From The Forest “an online literary and art magazine…we release a new issue every 3 months. Each issue is based on a theme or phrase” and TOKEN Magazine, “an arts and literature zine that gives a voice to those who are rarely  given one.” Do check them out. Tales From The Forest has written its first blog post with a call for submissions for Issue #5.

Submissions are open for Shooter Issue #6: Bad Girls, Fictive Dream published its 50th post and is also calling for submissions. Popshot is still open for submissions for the ‘Future’ issue until Jan 26th.

 

Live Lit

Words Away is holding its January salon TONIGHT, Monday Jan 23rd, with Stella Duffytalking about writing short stories. Smut Slam launched in the UK this month, and Arachne Press are taking Shortest Day, Longest Night anthology on tour. Calling all flashers for the February Flashers’ Club in Cheltenham on Feb 9th.

Competitions

The A3 Review’s Leaders and Followers contest is now open, deadline Jan 28th and the2017 Crediton Short Story Competition is now accepting entries, deadline 20 April. The Short Fiction Prize 2017 is open for entries, deadline March 31st, and theinaugural Reflex Flash Fiction competition is now open, deadline 28th Feb.

Workshops

The London Lit Lab are holding a one-day intensive beginners’ workshop on Jan 28th, in London. Bideford Bay Creatives are running a one day workshop on Feb 4th entitled “The People’s History – An Historical Fiction Creative Writing Workshop”, in Bideford Bay.
