Lit Mags

Bunbury has just published Issue 10 – Politics Special! Shoreline of Infinity is nowopen for submissionsElbow Room magazine is having a prize event and an anthology, and new lit mag Boundless blogged about their upcoming launch. Holdfast is still open for submissions for Issue #8: Love, Sex & Romance. Tube Flash is back and wants your flash fiction. Issue 1 of the Nottingham Review is now available. Open Pen magazine are to publish an anthology of short stories. Shooter Literary Magazine is calling for submissions for its ‘Surreal’ issue, and the London Journal of Fiction also wants your stories.

Live Lit

Critically-acclaimed Verbose is back with an event on Mon Sept 28 in Manchester, and Unsung Live #2 is on 20th October in London. The Literary Kitchen Festival is calling for flash fiction to be performed at the festival in London, which runs from Oct 12-18. White Rabbit present How To Be A Hero on tour. The Word Factory has two events in September, Word Factory #36 on Sept 19, and events at the Small Wonder Short Story Festival. And London StorySLAM Live is calling for submissions for its event on 1st October.

Competitions

Words and Women have launched their 2015 writing competition, deadline Nov 15th (women writers only). The Less Than 100 Words short story competition runs weekly contests. Shoreline of Infinity magazine is running a science fiction competition, deadline 21 Dec. The deadline for the Galley Beggar Press short story prize is Nov 15th. The A3 Review launches 6 new writing contests.

Other

Being Dad short story anthology is currently crowdfunding for the book. And your short stories are wanted for an anthology raising money for the charity War Child.

Festivals & Workshops
The Small Wonder Short Story Festival is in full swing – you can still nip down there this weekend! Ethel Rohan is running a Brilliance of Brevity workshop at the Abroad Writers Conference in Dublin in December. Beach Hut Writing Academy kicks offwith a short story course in Brighton.

Last Minute & Gentle Reminders
The Cro Magnon short story competition closes on 30 Sep.
